Hospital Stay

I ended up staying in the hospital for 2 nights.  Not too bad except for the very little sleep part.  It's funny the things that made the experience awesome...English speaking nurses, ice water, air conditioning/heat, private room, English TV channels, hospital gown (one even was a nursing hospital gown), decent selection of food...until you've had a baby abroad you don't know how awesome you have it here (and it's not like Kevin was born in a 3rd world country or anything).

I ended up watching a lot of house hunters international, love it or list it and other housing/remodeling shows.  All the nurses were really nice and helpful.  With that said, one of them told me I was the easiest patient because I just didn't need anything.

Jonathan is a nursing, pooping, sleeping champion.  That is really all he did.  He doesn't cry much.  I could hear when the babies in the rooms on either side of me were crying and which made it all the more noticeable what an awesome baby Jonathan is.

He did have one choking episode.  He had fallen asleep eating and didn't burp.  I went to sleep and woke up to him gagging about an hour later.  He spit up some what stuff but kept making gagging noise so I buzzed the night nurse who came running.  Everything was fine though.

I found all the security measure in a little interesting.  Like if a nurse come to take your baby there is a code word each day that have to give you.  Also the baby and mother wear paired bracelets.  If you're away from your baby for longer than 30 minutes when you get close, the bracelet sings a little song.  Apparently if you get close to the wrong baby it makes a horrible noise or if you go through an exit it sets of an alarm.

The kids came to visit twice on Friday.  Once in the morning and once in the evening.  Kherington loves to hold and rock the baby.  Kevin is interested in him, but was more interested in the window blind and all the buttons by the bed.

The pediatrician came by Saturday morning and gave him a clean bill of health.  Jonathan also had his hearing re-screened since one ear had failed the day before (I was told that was fairly common).  He passed so everything is fine on that front .

I think it is funny they still make the mother ride in the wheel chair when leaving the hospital. I've been up and down all day so how is walking down the hallway any different?
