Bike Rides

Most afternoons I have been taking the kids on bike rides to the park. There is a playground about .75 miles away from us right on a beautiful trail along the canals.  Kevin is pretty awesome with the balance bike.  Kherington take a little more convincing and prefers her scooter, but I keep telling them we won't be buy any real bike until they are pros at the balance bikes (and that we're not doing training wheels).  Jonathan has gotten so he loves being outside and loves walks in the stroller so it really is a win win all around.

The kids enjoyed collecting sticks along the way and sometime have quite a bundle.  However, we have a not stick rule in our house so they find a 'home' for them before heading inside.  We took one of their friends who was spending the afternoon with us on the normal bike ride.  I didn't think anything of it since she is just older than Kevin.  It was a super slow walk (more a waddle with a bike between her legs for her) but when we got home she was happy and kept talking about how much fun the bike ride was.  I guess my kids have been doing it long enough that I forgot the beginner stage.

The Coupon Book

We gave Kherington a homemade coupon book for her birthday and she has been getting her use out of it the last few days...to the extent that I am exhausted and Jonathan really needs a good quality nap not in his car seat.  Really it has been an awesome gift that we will probably repeat each year, but I would restrict us to a max of one per day.  She wakes up each morning and flips through to find what she wants to use.  We have been to the library, the park and Costco for a smoothie.  She has gotten to stay up late, has chosen a treat to make together to give to a friend of her choice, earned an extra $1 for unloading the dishwasher and more.
