Kherington woke up Christmas morning at 6:30am. She sat right up and happily exclaimed, "It's Christmas!" She jumped out of her bed and changed right our of her pajama's into her chosen outfit. White capri leggings and a striped light blue/white shirt. Most people associate Christmas with cold weather. She apparently is not one of those people. We waited out on the couches for everything to gather. The deal was that once our kids woke up everyone would get up. When we came out, Kherington was happy to see that Santa and the Reindeer enjoyed her treat and even wrote her a little letter...however she was sad that Bastian was no where to be found. He'll be back next year :).
This year Santa brought the kids Legos and boots (rain boots AND snow boots) in addition to a bunch of goodies and small gifts in their stockings. They must have been very good.
All the grand kids also got some awesome Disney shirts. Kherington loves her princess shirt and this will definitely come in handy. I recently hid her old one because it was getting too small. Kevin's shirt matched his cute new cars slippers. Rotating between his boots and his slippers he was pretty styling.
Kevin's favorite present hands down was the whoopie cushion. I am now sad that I didn't get any video of him using it. He thought it was hilarious and he was funny to watch. I thought Kevin would be interested in unwrapping presents but after a couple all he wanted to do was sit, eat and play with a couple of toys he'd gotten.
Kherington loved all her gifts and loved unwrapping everything. Ryan and I took the kids to the Toys R Us to pick out gifts for each other (I bought a groupon for $20 worth of goods from Toys R Us...it only cost $10 plus I had a $10 in my account from signing up so it was free!). Kherington got Kevin a toy camera and cellphone and Kevin got Kherington a toy ice cream cone set. Both were a huge hit.
Christmas (and anniversary) this year was our Holy Land cruise and Istanbul trip, but still got each other 2 things. One gift was supposed to be a 'known' gift...something that we would typically give the other. The 2nd one was supposed to a random gift. I got Ryan Purdue PJ pants and some cologne (and compression shorts for basketball) and he got me thick running gloves with the sticky fingers so you don't have to take them off to adjust the ipod and agreed to sign-up AND run a dirty dash race with me in June.
Aside from the typical clementine in the toe and mixture of pistachios and peanut M&M's in our stocking Santa also usually brings me crunchy cheetos. I don't love chips, but I do love those (the puffy ones are such a waste). Well, Kevin loves them also. Once those were opened he wanted nothing more to do with presents. I couldn't resist including this cute picture of Kyah too. She is such a little sweetie. After opening the presents, we moved everything back to our room. I really didn't think we'd bought much this year, but we ended up with so much stuff...I guess that's what happens when you have such generous family members.
I went and worked out in the garage while everyone had some breakfast. Then later all aunts/uncles/grandparents went to see a movie and Ryan and I watched the kiddos. I don't mind movies, but I don't love them so this was no big deal to me. Ryan once again proved himself to be the fun dad/uncle. He is so good with the kids plus way way way patient (with me and the kids). Mid-way through getting them ready for bed, he decided to play choo-choo train. He dragged them all around the house in these little buckets. Kherington was the caboose. It was pretty funny. They even went through a tunnel (through the fort we'd made in the back room) and he used Kevin's new whistle.
