Fun at the Park

I was really ambitious this morning and decided that we would walk over to Park Josephat, which is about a 20 minute walk, to play and have a picnic. I did the whole thing: pbj sandwiches, apples, crackers, chalk, bubble, sand toys and even figured out how to strap Kherington's motorcycle to the stroller. On the way out the door the thought crossed my mind that I should grab a book for myself, but I decided not to because, really, what are the chances both kids would be chill and I would be able to read?

Yeah, I got to the park and Kherington was OUT. She slept for about 30 minutes once arriving at the park before I finally woke her up and told her she could either play or we could go home. Kevin just chilled on the blanket then fell back asleep. Kherington had a blast and finished her picnic lunch on the walk home. I should really do this more often and ideally with other friends.

Sand Sculptures

Yesterday we went up to Blankenberge, Belgium to visit the world's largest sand sculpture festival. We thought it would be fun, but what sold us was that (a) both kevin & kherington were free and (b) it was disney themed which we knew kherington would love (princess, buzz, woody, mater, etc).

The night before we decided we would just wake-up whenever and then head up. Well, Ryan is awesome and when Kherington came in and gave me an eskimo kiss at 7am he took both her and Kevin and let me go back to sleep until 9am! We still managed to be on the road around 10am so that wasn't too bad.

We walked around the sand sculptures and Kherington played on one of the those blow-up bouncy things. After getting some wiggles out, we walked down to beach (left out car in the free parking area which was nice). It was our first time seeing the beach here. I think it would be considered the North Sea, but I really am not positive about that. I would compare the water temperature to that of the Washington coast water (think cold). There were a couple people out kite surfing, but that was it.

We headed up to the board walk and wandered around. Some of the fun things we saw: (1) a store where you put your feet in a tank of fish and they eat all the nastiness off them...don't think I could do it, (2) an autodrome - only cost 3 euros for 30 minutes for you kids to pedal around in a go-cart looking thing and get tired...i wish Kherington was old enough to do it, (3) ice-cream stores...Kherington is a world traveling ice cream connoisseur so of course she stopped and got some.

It was a fun to spend the day together away from the house.

Kevin's 3 Month's Old!

Time has flown by...Kevin is already 3 months old! I know, crazy! He is still the best baby ever. Every day I wonder if it will change, but as of now I can do pretty much anything with him. He is kind of on a self-imposed schedule.
  • between 4 & 7am - eats, diaper change, back to sleep
  • 8am - wakes up, eats and chills
  • 9am - back to sleep (I'm trying to make this nap always in his crib which is in Kherington's room)
  • 10:30am - up again and ready to eat/chill
  • Noon - back asleep
  • 2:30pm - awake/eat
  • 5pm - sleep
  • 6:30pm - awake/eat
  • 9:00pm - asleep (this is workout time for Ryan & I)
  • 11:00pm - I wake him up to change and feed him then he goes right back to sleep for the night
He is still sleeping in our room because it is convenient. He sleeps until his want to eat in the morning (when I say he want to eat in the morning, really he is just moving around enough that either Ryan or I hear him...no crying or anything like that...so I feed and change him and pump his legs to get some gas out). Maybe if we moved him to Kherington's room I would stop the early morning feeding.

What kind of baby is he?
  • Slobber baby - the front of his onesies are constantly soaking wet
  • Burps - after each feeding he'll give you one good burp. If you don't get him to do the burp then you can plan on one big spit-up sometime.
  • Gas - we end up pumping his legs quite a bit in the evening b/c he has so much gas (and it is stinky...poo smells sweet but his farts smell gross)
  • Crying - on occasion, but really it is very very very limited (usually has to do with gas OR he is tired and want to be put to sleep)
  • Swaddle - sleeps in the swaddle blankets each time he goes to sleep (well, except when he' in the carseat)
  • Chatter box - he will carry on a whole conversation with you
  • Observer - he LOVES watching Kherington
  • Jumper - he likes to spin around in the Jumper (and we usually find little splotches of drool/burp on the floor beneath him)

Stats (will update after his doc's appt next week)
Still in 0-3 month clothes, but I could probably start 3-6 soon
