Birthday Time

Today's my birthday...i got up and went running with Kherington (as in pushing Kherington). She loves pointing out all the buses, the color of cars, people etc. Kherington has had a runny nose and been a little off AND it has been a gloomy day so this is what she's done pretty much the whole day:

Toy Story and Curious George...specifically Curious George Low Score over and over and over again. She had "room time." It was supposed to be a nap, but I could hear her playing the whole time then she started knocking on the door saying: "Moooommmmy. Knock, knock. Who's there? Kherington wake up." This silly girl cracks me up. I always tell her she needs to sleep and then wake up before she can come out. She had been in there for awhile so I let her come out and resume her movie watching time. While I was blogging, thing got a little quiet and I turned around to find her asleep on the ground.

Kevin on the other hand has been chillin the whole day. Rolling all over the floor. At one point he rolled over to where Kherington's sippy cup was on the floor and started gnawing on the handle. Now his in the jumper doing some spinning.

Since I love breakfast food and we have a bunch of it taking up my precious room in the freezer, I decided on breakfast for dinner. This means biscuits (a recipe i've wanted to try for awhile), gravy (from a mix I packed back from the US), hashbrown (freezer), sausage (freezer) and eggs. Then I made a chocolate peanut butter pie for my birthday dessert.

*this picture makes me smile...i especially love the drool coming out of Kevin's mouth

Le Chateau d'Helecine

Monday was a holiday. You're probably thinking, a holiday in August...since when does that happen. Well, here in Belgium (and I think Europe in general), it seems like most catholic events are holidays. This one was the Assumption of Mary.

Ryan finished his busy season Friday night so he actually got to take the day off. To enjoy the nice weather, we met up with some friends at a park a little past Leuven called Le Chateau d'Helecine. Since almost everything shuts down on holiday's, we figured it would be pretty quiet there too, but man were we wrong. There was a HUGE flee market with more people in one place than I have ever seen in Belgium. The playground park was still pretty empty though. The park had about 4 different playgrounds for different age groups, a zipline, massive spiderweb net, teeter totters 6 feet up in the air...Europe knows how to make cool playgrounds!

Kherington especially loved one of the playgrounds. It started with a climb up a little spiderweb, walking across a moving walkway, climb up a couple more feet, across 6 inch wide balance beam, up some more and down a steep tunnel slide. The first time through the course I tried to stay under her so I could catch her if she fell, but after that I figured my chances of breaking a fall wasn't that high anyways so I just sat on the bench and let her do her thing.

After getting some energy out, we stopped at a stand for some bratwurst. I think we're going to have to start ordering Kherington her own b/c she doesn't like to share with us AND will normally eat most if not all of it on her own. Kevin sat and watched us all eat some good food and I sure can't wait to be able to eat with us.
