Dallas Visit #1

As many of you know, Ryan is in Dallas until the end of April doing an tax internship with Deloitte. His second day of the internship he went to his client's site which is where he expects to be at least through mid-march...so far, a way better internship experience than the one I had.

Well, I spent his last weekend with him in Dallas and we had a great time. We went and saw The Bucketlist. It was a good movie but not amazing. I would recommend that people wait until it's on DVD. We also went to the Fort Worth Stock Yard RODEO!

After the rodeo, we went to a great Mexican food place that his Aunt and Uncle recommended. (we had planned going before, but the line was out the door and around the building...it's apparently a hot spot).

Our Holiday Adventures

Due to the lack of my blogging, I'm finally sitting down before my internship starts in Dallas and updating the past few months or better said "Our Holiday Adventures".

THANKSGIVING

For Thanksgiving, we took a week long break to see Erin's family in Bellevue, WA. The excitement of the trip was making our trip a surprise for everyone. Our stay included dropping by Pike's Place for chocolate linguini, relaxing with the family and playing fun games (i.e. Blokus, Pounce, Scattergories). Another highlight was Erin learning how to make toffee, not good for our health but tastes delicious. On Thanksgiving Day, we went over to Aunt Sabrina's house and had a great time with all the family in Seattle. The trip was a well needed break for us away from Provo. Below are some pictures:

CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR BREAK

For Christmas, we headed to the East Coast to Myrtle Beach, SC. We had a great time visiting my family for this holiday break. Some highlights of the break were as followed:

  • Basketball w/ Dad & Adam vs. Jason & Ryan
    • Jason & me lost twice to Dad & Adam; maybe it's time for Ryan to start exercising for the 1st time in his life
  • Carolina Opry
    • A Southern Christmas medley of music and skits
  • Melting Pot - Fondue
    • 1st time for everyone but my parents, amazing cheese and of course to die for chocolate
  • Getting the family addicted to the TV series 24 (we watched the entire 6th season)
  • Gingerbread House Constructing
  • Christmas Eve/Christmas
    • Many traditions continued; however, we had somewhat an unconventional Christmas as well
    • Maggiano's for dinner
      • Incredible Stuffed Mushrooms
  • Wally Ball
  • Running Competition (Erin v. Dad...Erin won...barely, but she still won)
  • Guitar Hero
  • New Years Eve Party
    • Competitive and fun games w/ friends from Charlotte
      • Catch a Phrase, Pit, Sequence, Karaoke
    • Iron Chef Competition - sauce for the chocolate linguini
      • Glover Kids won!!!!

These holiday adventures have been very fun for Erin and I. We have enjoyed spending time with both our families and had a great 1st year of marriage. We grateful for the gospel in our lives and all the Savior has done for us. We look forward to the new year and hopefully I can become a better blogger in '08.

Soap Derby

Yeah, so we're not good bloggers...what can we say. I do actually have a couple pictures. A month or so ago we went to a soap derby for the ASM (association of systems management) club. We carved our own race car, attached some wheels and raced them on the same track they use for a pine wood derby. I believe out car placed 8th overall. FYI: we used Ivory soap because it's best for carving...and the winner put their wheels on the narrow side of the soap so their car was really tall.

Iron Chef Glover

We love watching the Food Network channel and our show of choice currently is Iron Chef, so we decided to have Iron Chef Glover. The secret ingredient: CHICKEN. We each got two chicken breasts and could make anything we wanted with them. Ryan made Alice Spring Chicken (for all you outback fans, you can find it on the menu there) and Erin made Spinach and Mushroom Stuffed Chicken Breasts.

Each dish was so different which made it very hard to compare. Since they both tasted really good, we determined it was a tie (no fun). As our tie breaker, we had Erin's younger brother, Logan, come over to judge (it was pretty hard to get him to come eat free food). He said since he's more of a BBQish fan, he favored Ryan's Alice Spring Chicken and even asked if we could teach him how to make it so he could impress a girl...he just has to first find a girl to impress.

We then made plate of goodies to take to people in the ward for Halloween. Erin made pumpkin bread and peanut butter bars while Ryan made No-bakes. Yummmy!

Aside from our cooking life, we are both still going to school and working. Ryan has been interviewing with Accounting firms for a Winter Internship. Saturday we went to our first women's volleyball match of the season with Megan, Elaine and Aunt Celecta. Pretty fun!

BASKETBALL MANIA!!!!

As college basketball games are about to get underway, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you a picture of my collection of collegiate hats. Currently, I have 109 hats from numerous Division I schools throughout the nation. I'm very lucky to have a wife who supports my hobby and allows me to build my collection on a monthly basis. Good luck to all the teams that are about to begin their pre-season games and may this upcoming year be another one full of excitement!

Rockies vs. ???

As the miraculous season of the Rockies heads toward the World Series, we now await the infamous duel between the Red Sox vs. Indians. The ALCS hasn't seen much from the Red Sox during games 2, 3, or even 4 (currently playing); however, Erin and I don't lose hope in our Red Sox. We do wish, though, that we could attend Game 5 with Bren and Elise.

Tough Loss

Well, Ryan is too upset to write about our loss. Our Red Sox just lost it at the end making the game seem like a blowout even though in reality it was grueling 11 inning game. It's okay though. They will be back to beat the Indians on Monday.
