Timeout Zip Up

Kherington and Kevin were having a really hard time getting along on Sunday afternoon.  After trying other ways to get them to be nice to each other, I zipped them in a sweatshirt together.  They immediately fell down and rolled all over each other and kept fighting.  Then after a couple minutes they started working together and laughing.  I'd say it was a success.

Hot Chocolate Run

Ryan and I ran in Dallas' Hot Chocolate run this weekend.  I did the 10K and Ryan did the 5K.  We were able to see him cross the finish line right before we started the 10K.  I did my long training runs with my friend Katie but we ran the race separately.

My goal pace was 8:45 and I ended up running an 8:46.  The course was much hillier that I expected.  There was a huge hill at mile 5 and that was the first time in all my runs that I felt like I hit a wall.  Kind of surprising since I had gotten up to 10+ miles already.  So mile 5 was super slow (9:52 according to my watch).  There was also a big overpass we had to go over at mile 9.

Ryan had gone into work after his race so I headed home.  I was going to go pick-up my kids, but my friends said they'd keep them so instead I got a nice peacefully shower and a nap.  Plus when I went to get the kids later, I found that they had made signs and had planned to come down and watch the race when Jonathan woke up...but he slept until 11am (after no sleeping the night before).  They also got me a box of Samoa Girl Scout Cookies and told me with how much I ran I could eat the whole box.
Now for a funny. Ryan got home from work and had picked up Outback Cheese Fries, Caesar Salad and Alice Spring Chicken for dinner (on work). He downed that, then went for one of my cookies. When I stopped him, he says, "but I ran too." Yes, but his 32 minute 5K was more than made up for my that Outback meal :).

100th Day of School

I guess the 100th day of school is a huge deal in Texas.  We got a note asking us to help our kids make a shirt with 100 items on it.  Kherington wasn't begging to make one, so I figured we'd skip it.  That was until I went to help in her class and after talking to the teacher realized it was a big deal.  Lucky for me she wanted to go the easy route.  She picked a shirt from her drawer, I got down our box of stickers and she stuck 100 stickers on.

The Big Sis

This little girl is such an awesome sister!

Pizza Playgroup

I volunteered to host a pizza playgroup at our house for our ward.  I made up a bunch of whole wheat pizza dough and had stack of mini pizzas ready to be decorated.  I provide dough, sauce and cheese and people brought their favorite toppings.  It was awesome (having a double oven definitely helped things along).  My current favorite pizza is the wheat dough with pesto sauce, chicken, mushrooms and red bell peppers.  Yummy!  Such and easy fun activity to host.

....plus after volunteering to host, it motivated me to actually organize our house.  I even got our family pictures hung on the wall.  I love it.

Kid Funnies

Kherington
We were filling out a spotlight questionnaire for church and one of the questions was what is a family tradition of yours?

Kherington was having a hard time thinking of one. Then Kevin comes up and goes, I know what traditions are. It's when you pull a Rabbit out of hat on your head. We were a little confused then, figured out he was thinking 'magician'. Then he goes on to tell us that we can't do that because we don't have a tall hat or a wand. Maybe when we get one.

Kevin
He keeps praying for Jesus to visit our house.

When Friends become Family

I'm really not sure what we would do if we hadn't gotten to be good friends with the Lingenbrinks.  Our kids ages line up perfectly plus the parents are both awesome.  We trade kids a couple days each week and have dinner together during the week while our husbands are working.  The kids play and fight like sibling which I love.
