Pumpking Painting Round 2 = SUCCESS

Round 2 of pumpkin painting was much better.  Kevin had spent the afternoon at Isabel's house while I took Jonathan to his check-up then fell asleep in the car on the way over.  That was good thing since once he woke up he wasn't tired and cranky.  Happy kids made painting so much more fun.

We painted pumpkins with acrylic paint this time instead of tempura. We let them dry and then broke out the sticker box and let the kids go to town.

I think they turned out awesome!  Yissel brought dinner over for all of us too.  Pretty perfect afternoon.

Jonathan - 9 months

Jon Bon's 9 month stats are in...
Height: 26.75 inches (20%)
Weight: 16 lb 8 oz (5%)
Head: 17.5 inches (20%)

I'm not a big nickname person, but this one has stuck and we all refer to him as Jon Bon more than Jonathan.  He still takes the cake as my hardest child.  He cries a lot.  Like pretty much all the time.  He like to be held, but doesn't like to cuddle.  And when you hold him you must be standing...but in reality this doesn't guarantee that he won't be crying.  He loves Costco samples.  If you open the dishwasher he hears it and bolts over to 'help.'

Early Morning at the Glovers

The kids were super cute this morning so I took a picture of each of them.  Kherington all ready to head out the door to school, Kevin helping himself to some breakfast and Jonathan happy and crawling around.

Breakfast Layover

One of Ryan's good family friends from Indiana, Christie Sinclair, had a 6 hour layover in Dallas so we picked her up and went to breakfast.  We tried a place called Old West Cafe in Grapevine that had a bunch of good reviews.  It was delicious.  Our kids both got pancakes that were ginormous, then asked us to scrape off the whip cream because they don't like it.  Kherington and Kevin only at their bacon and a couple bites of pancake.  Jonathan, on the other hand, scarfed down half of Kevin's pancake.  After breakfast we went to a nearby playground so the kids could run while we chatted before dropping Christie back off at the airport.

GOAL!!!

Kherington scored her very first goal!  They don't keep official score, but her team won 14-0.  Kind of painful to watch.  She kicked the ball and it managed to go through the pack of kids without getting and into the goal.  She loves playing and I love that she is getting more aggressive.

After the game we went and got donuts and breakfast tacos.  We all loved the tacos, so maybe they will be our new family tradition.

Kherington School Update

Kherington LOVES her school and especially loves her kindergarten teacher Miss Augustine.  I love that Miss Augustine takes a lot of pictures and posts them (photography is one of her hobbies).  Kherington loves 'specials' which are pe, art, library, computer lab etc.  During class they read, dance to songs, use ipads, practice spelling and more.  Each student has gotten to take turns being queen or king for the day.  When it is their turn, all the students draw a picture of the child and Miss Augustine made all the pictures into a book.  Kherington was so excited to have a book of her own and flips through it looking at the pictures each kid drew of her.  Miss Augustine uses class dojo to give the kids points during class.  When Kherington gets home she loves pulling up the app on my ipad to show me how she's doing.

At home we practice reading and writing too.  We started using a white erase board which makes it even more fun.  She has also started having homework.  It is learning 5 sight words.  She gets the list on Monday and has a test on Friday.  After the first test her teacher told me she did the best and has great handwriting.  She knew all 5 of her words plus spelt the extra word correctly too.

Pumpkin Painting Round 1

We had our friends over for pumpkin painting and dinner one afternoon.  Actually, I dropped Kherington and Kevin off at her place while I took Jonathan to his 9 month check-up, and then they all came over to our place.  The kids were a little off and pretty whiny, then to top it off, the paint dried and instantly started peeling off.  It was fun to have company for the afternoon especially since both our husbands were gone (her's travels during the week and Ryan just works late).  We will try again next week with different paint and happier kids.
