I have been totally slacking on the crafts which is sad for many reasons but mainly because I already own all the material and the kids love doing crafts. I have been trying to keep the TV off more and have the kids just play so we brought out the water color paints one day, the gluing/scissors stuff the next day and beads another day. The kids also built a house (the pile of all the blankets, pills of and sheets in our house back in the corner) and learned how to take picture of themselves using the timer on the camera. It is really fun to see what they think of when they use their imagination.

The Fourth of July and Uncle Adam's Visit
Uncle Adam is selling pest control in Oklahoma so he was close enough to come join us for long Fourth of July weekend. Going from two weeks of 1 adult and 3 kids to 3 adults 3 kids was pretty awesome.
After working out at the Y, went to a local BBQ shop called Hard-Eight which was pretty awesome. Coppell does their fireworks on the 3rd so instead of heading home we stopped and played at the splash pad next door (good thing Kherington is small enough to squeeze into Kevin's extra clothes). As it got darker we kept waiting to see the fireworks but never did so we decided to head home. Luckily we saw the fireworks as we were driving so we pulled over and watched.
On the fourth we watch the Coppell parade, played in the pool and had an All American lunch of hamburgers, corn on the cob, watermelon and layered drinks on the fourth, then watched fireworks from a lookout point up the hill from our apartment. We could see the firework shows for 3 different cities, plus all the random ones people set off. It was perfect.
I totally forgot to put Jonathan in his patriotic romper (it even says USA on the back), so he wore it to church on Sunday.

Daddy's Home!
We picked Ryan up from the airport. The kids were super excited. We had been counting down the "nights sleep." Kevin immediately started repeating everything Ryan said. Kind of nice to not be the one he was repeating.

Change of Plans
Today Kherington wanted to go swimming so I told her to look outside and see how the weather was. She said it was fine so we got suited up, lathered on the sunscreen and headed out. That's when I realized that having a 5 year old check the weather wasn't the smarted idea. They were in the pool all of 5 minutes before I heard the first thunder and made them get out. By the time we got back to our apartment it was down pouring.
Instead the kids spent the rest of the day building block tower and train tracks and taking pictures using the timer. I can't wait until Jonathan is old enough to join in the fun.

Jonathan's Solids
5.5 months old and trying solids for the second time (rice cereal and momma milk). Spoon feeding my kids ranks among my least favorite activities. Here's to hoping he learns to chew and can start feeding himself soon. I'd take a mess over me feeding him any day.

What My Apartment Looks Like
The worst part about Ryan being gone is that I would put all 3 kids, the house would still be a mess, and cleaning is the last thing that I want to do. Ryan is awesome and cleans up each evening and unloads the dishwasher (kind of hard to load the dishwasher when clean dishes are still inside).

Pool Time ... Or Not
While they played Legos, Jonathan kept wiggling himself out of his bouncer. A little later I put him in the johnny jumper while I made dinner and came back to find the couch over him. The kids told me he was taking a shower. I love their imagination.
