I couldn't believe how quickly Christmas Eve snuck up on us this year. We spent the day together as opposed to running around shopping which was really nice. I made sugar cookies with the kids...then a little later we frosted them.
I didn't get a picture of the best part of dinner. Per Glover tradition, we had Chimichanga's for dinner. While everyone was in the kitchen helping, grandpa started mixing up the whipped cream topped coolers.
After a our meal, the kids gathered to open their present from grandma...pajamas! Plus, Uncle Cory had gone to Disney the week before and brought them all back Mickey Santa hats. They were styling!
Next we re-enacted a somewhat abbreviated version of the Nativity. We bought some scarves at the bazaar in Istanbul to use for the Nativity. Kherington loved Mary's scarf (she even ended up wearing it to bed). The little boys and Jason were shepherds complete with their candy cane canes. Tiffany and I were angles...we got to wear old high school graduation gowns. Grandpa was the donkey. Ryan and Adam were Wisemen and Kyah was baby Jesus. Surprisingly Kherington did not want to ride the donkey...she just wanted to cuddle with her mommy.
To end this portion of the evening, Cory played a song for us. He's pretty talented.
Grandpa read a night time story to the kids. Watch Kevin's progression pictures below. First unsure of if he wanted to be there, then having fun with grandpa as his jungle gym, then oh, yeah, I want to read stories too. Funny guy.
Some friends of ours told us that they sprinkle a mixture of oatmeal and glitter on the grass on Christmas Eve to feed the reindeer. This sounded like a fun tradition, so we started it this year :). The kids wrote their letters to Santa, picked a couple cookies to leave for him and an apple for the reindeer and got tucked into bed.
Kherington was pretty giddy with excitement when we put the kids to bed. It makes Christmas so much more fun to have the kids be so excited.
