At 5:45am Kherington came running into our room...apparently she wanted to maximize awake time for her birthday. We had taped up streams on her door and put balloon in the hallway (both pink of course) so she was pretty excited. She ran and grabbed a present off the table to open upon mom and dad's bed (oh, did I mention Kevin was kind enough to wake up early and join us too). We all relocated to the front room where she continued to open presents...except the two I put up so she'd have something to open at night :). So far this is the BEST age for presents. She doesn't so much care what is in the presents, but gets really excited to open them...Christmas is going to be awesome! I decided to follow and 'All Things Pink" theme. So all but one present was wrapped in pink (she had seen another wrapping paper a while back and I promised I'd wrap a present in it). She had some strawberry frosted mini wheat for breakfast...in a pink bowl and with a pink spoon :).
When Kevin and I picked Kherington up from school, she kept asking where different presents she opened up were. Well, they were all at home. After it finally clicked, she started running home. Sooo cute :).
For lunch we headed to daddy's work and at in the cafeteria there. Kevin slept through the whole thing! Kherington choose spaghetti and barely put a dent in it. We said hi to Ryan's co-workers then on the drive home she conked. I was even able to move her to her bed and she stayed asleep. She's a growing girl :).
In the afternoon we stopped by a friends house where they had decorated and made cards for Kherington's birthday. It was so sweet of them. Kherington kinda clingy though and still in wake-up mode so we didn't stay too long.
For her birthday dinner I made some delicious (and easy) homemade chicken nuggets and some cauliflower tots that were okay. Her birthday cake was pink, pink, pink...pink cake, pink mouse filling and pink frosting. I thought it tasted pretty good...Kherington just wanted to slick the frosting off (she doesn't seem to be much of a cake person so we'll see what she want for her birthday cake in the future).
She opened up her last two presents and got back to playing :). We didn't get her anything huge (except the trampoline that we put up a couple weeks ago), but she loved everything. She got: princess blanket, princess chapsticks (makeup), plastic pan/veggies, princess tin, pink/red jeweled pens, multi-color pens, heart pads, pink paper notes and pink princess slipper socks (okay, so we also got a water table, but once we put it together we found it's more for Kevin's age then Kherington's).
We took treats to school on Wednesday instead of Monday because on Wednesday kids bring snacks from home instead of having pottage order (yes pottage...as in spinach soup, tomato soup, etc...and the kids eat it and like it). The I had a bit of a problem with the tips for decorating so I finally just decided to spread the frosting. They look cuter with the tip design, but that's how it goes sometimes. I think they turned out pretty cute. After school Kherington informed me that she had cookie monster and her teacher, Madame Sandy, had Elmo.
