Carnival week means 'no school' week for Kherington and means 'two kids full-time' week for mom. It's amazing how quickly I forgot how much more energy is required to entertain 2 kids all day instead of 1. They definitely kept me on my toes.
One of the days I was playing with Kevin in the front room and it was getting to be Kherington's nap time. She was really quiet so I thought maybe she had put herself to sleep on her own...yeah, wishful thinking. I went to check her room. The door was closed and I open it to her chowing down on Oreos...a fresh pack that she had gotten out of the hallway closet without me hearing. Sneaky, sneaky girl.
We had a lot of lazy day's. After nap time Kherington requested tortellini for snack AND a movie. My rule is that there's no movies until after nap time (or during if it's a 'quiet movie' day). So this worked out well. She chilled, watched and ate. Ah peacefulness.
One of the nights Ryan and I were both tired. We went bed at 10pm and knew she was still awake, but she was just playing in her room so we didn't worry too much about it. Well, at 1am Kevin woke up and Ryan came out to get a diaper (nighttime poos are the worst). He found Kherington on the computer playing Sesame Street and watching Curious George...yeah that's our little night owl. Also at some point that evening she took a picture of the heart chocolate I had left on the table (closed)...not sure how many were missing in the morning :).
Kevin is a handful...not bad, just has his own personality and loves to be held, unless he doesn't :). He just has a lot of energy and is very determined. I can't wait for him to talk instead of whine/scream. One of his current favorite things to do is empty all the books off the shelves/crates in the kids room (I guess I should starting calling it that instead of Kherington's room). He can empty them pretty quickly. Sometimes he likes to go in and flip through books on his own too which I love.
It is not only books that he likes to pull off the shelves. Anything close to the edge of our desk or table is reachable for him and he'll make sure to get it.
Ryan is awesome. On the weekend he took Kherington and Kevin to Technopolis, left me at home by myself (which is the BEST). They were gone for a long time. I didn't do anything productive, just finished book I was reading...then I took a nap. When I woke up there was a vase full of tulips sitting on the table. Such as sweet guy.
So the break is called 'Carnival Week' because it is the week of Mardi Gra (aka Fat Tuesday). I decided to take the kids to Bruparck's celebration. I think it's one of the first times I've gone someplace like that with both kids on my own. I had Kevin in the wrap, so there aren't any pictures of him. The place was crowded. Every 30 minutes or so everyone would gather around the stage, they'd play music and yell in French (have no clue what) the throw candy and confetti. Kherington liked it when adults were throwing confetti, but other kids was another story. She had some fun scooping some off the ground and tossing it up too. She also got to do one ride on the carrousel. Kevin too...but in the wrap (I was standing next to Kherington making sure she didn't fall off.

Kherington sounds like quite the little girl! Devin and I are very impressed. Especially about the oreos, I can't believe she snuck a pack into her room! Those things are LOUD!
