I helped out on Kherington's Kindergarten field trip to the pumpkin patch. It wasn't the type of pumpkin patch I was envisioning. The pumpkin patch part was just a couple clusters of pre-picked pumpkins, then the rest was a petting zoo with pigs, chickens, horses and more. Kherington talked a lot about milking the cow before hand, but was super scared when it was her turn.

State Fair of Texas
Kherington had a half day on a Wednesday which happened to be the day you could get into the State Fair or Texas for $3 plus 3 cans of food. Ryan took the afternoon off and we headed there. We opted to take the DART so we wouldn't deal with traffic on the way home. It was the first day of October and it was HOT! Like 90's hot...and we are those smart newbie Texas people that went out at the hottest part of the day. We wandered around. Enjoyed the kids area which was especially nice since it had free activities for the kiddos.

Getting Comfy
The kids are adjusting quite nicely the new place. They think it is fun to use the wet bar for 'lunch and a movie' location. I finally got the net put up on the trampoline, Jonathan likes carpet and Kevin love mom and dad's bed...and his daddy's basketball magazine.

Time to Lower the Crib
I came into the boys room to find Jonathan standing in the corner of his crib so very proud of himself. I guess it is time to move the mattress all the way down. Kevin wanted me to take a picture of him too (still wearing dad's shirts as pjs) but wouldn't open his eyes for it.

FHE: Elementary School Playground
For FHE this week, we went over and played at the elementary school playground. Kherington was able to show off all her newly learned moves including crossing the monkey bars both ways and hanging up-side-down. Kevin played a little and then danced around on the table (and hid when I came around with the camera). Also, a fun outdoor event in Texas wouldn't be complete without a red ant bite. Kevin was the lucky one. Someone should really learn how to kill off that species of ants.

Exploring the Neighborhood
We went for a family walk this afternoon. The neighborhood is older but very nice. At one corner we could hear constant cheering coming from one house and a huge football player blow-up at another. Welcome to Texas football season (and on that note, we get phone calls from Kherington's elementary school about high school football games). The kids loved playing at the neighborhood park.

Freezer Meals Prep
Our upright freezer got delivered on Friday so I went into stock the freezer mode. I've wanted to try freezer meals for awhile so I used a Costco freezer meal plan found online and went to work. It took about 4 hours to make 20 meals. While I did that, Ryan took the kids room by room and taught them what they need to do to clean it. Sweet deal for me.
