Thanksgiving 2014

Thanksgiving morning I started the day with an 8 mile run.  There is a trail near our house that I wanted to try out, but didn't want to do in the dark.  From our house to the end of the trail and back it was 8.03 miles.  Perfect.  I took Jonathan with me in the BOB and still ran a 8:41 pace which I was excited about.

For Thanksgiving dinner we went to the Bernhisels house with 5 other families. It was pretty perfect.  They had cute place setting for the kids complete with a turkey to color.  Dinner was delicious.  I'm not a huge turkey fan, but how do you say no to fried turkey and smoked turkey from a BBQ place?  Both were awesome.  We brought mashed potatoes and a veggie tray.  After the dinner the kids ran wild in the backyard.
The desserts were also great.  Someone was smart and brought cookies.  Even with all the amazing looking pies, almost all the kids opted for a good old chocolate chip cookie.  It was fun to relax and enjoy chatting with other adults while all the kids played nicely together.

Kindergarten Thanksgiving Performance

Kherington's Kindergarten class put on a little Thanksgiving performance and invited their parents to attend.  They made Pilgrims and Indians costumes then learned a couple different songs.  The kids were asked to wear jean which was quite the battle with Kherington (in hindsight I should have just let her wear jean jeggings).  As one of the smallest kids between all 3 Kindergarten classes she was front and center.

Dentist Time

Kevin and Kherington were super excited to head to the dentist again.  It makes a big difference to have a fun office.  Their appointments were at 11:30 and noon and we were walking out of the office at 12:05.  Even if they didn't already love the place, punctuality alone would keep me coming back.

The kids had picture takes on their teeth and then got to wear cool sunglasses while their teeth were cleaned.  Both were cavity free.  They loved the little goodie bag complete with stickers.

Gavin's Frozen Birthday

We helped celebrate Gavin's 3rd birthday (Heidi's little boy).  Heidi did an awesome job putting it together with a frozen theme.  There some of the food included ice skating rink jello, melted snowmen (yogurt with choco chips), string cheese snowmen.  She also had themed games including a snowball toss, pin the nose on Olaf and 'Can you build a Snowman?'.  It was awesome.  Kherington was the snowman in her group...she was definitely the best one.  It was definitely a party fun for all ages.

Soccer Party

Kherington's soccer season ended somewhat abruptly.  They were supposed to have a game, but the league said it was too cold to play (even though the kids just older than them still played) and postponed their game to following Saturday.  It probably won't take place since the other team won't have enough players.  They did still have their soccer party.  It was supposed to be right after their last game so they kept the time.  One mom made cute little honey bee picture frames and visors for each girl.  Another brought delicious cupcakes.  The coaches handed out medals.  It was pretty low key and perfect.  I love watching her interact with little girls her age.

90's to Freezing

Monday it was 90.  By Friday it was freezing.  We learned that our house is not very well insulated and I need to figure out the programing on the thermostat.  The kitchen seemed to be extra cold so I got a little space heater.  It made it warm enough to eat sans clothes...not sure why Jonathan doesn't have anything on.

Late Night with Papa

Grandpa Dixon (now called Papa) had meetings in Dallas so we got to visit with him late one night.  It was late and we didn't have long, but it was nice to see him.  It was so late that Kherington (who normally loves the camera) refused to take a picture with him.  It is always fun to have time with grandparents.
